Counterflow Deaerators
Advantages
- Cost competitive for high capacity applications
- Reliable over a large range of loads
- Ideal for applications with high levels of flashing return condensate and high inlet temperature
Limitations
- Size requirements become demanding when inlet temperature falls below 60°F
- Can not deaerate condensate from flashing return lines during start-up and re-starts
- Requires 40°F temperature differential to meet operating warranty
Parallel Downflow Deaerators
Advantages
- Performs well in all situations from 100% make-up water to high volumes of flashing returns
- Requires lowest temperature differential of any deaerator to meet operating warranty (<20°F)
- High velocities of steam allow for trays with less open area to maximize the surface area of spilling water exposed to steam
Limitations
- None
